As God's people, this is an opportunity to show calm. God is still in control.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
At a time when the world is full of uncertainty, we as believers have an ideal opportunity to share the Gospel to a local community desiring peace. They are searching for peace, and we hold the peace that passeth all understanding. As coronavirus and other illnesses permeate the media outlets, and wars and rumors of wars persist, God is still in full control of all things. What a joy to consider that the Creator of the universe is watching and guiding the steps of those who are walking with Him!
The world has always been uncertain, but while some of those occurrences outweigh others, by God all things consist. John reminds that "all things were made by Him." Consider that the God who created it all now holds all of life's circumstances in His hands. What should you do to help others during times of life that appear out of control?
1. Remember that your Father in Heaven cares for you.
a. God cares about you.
b. God covers the care in your stead so you don't have to worry about it any longer.
1. Remind others how you have a peace because of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 4 shares some ways to focus and meditate on the right things.
v.4 Rejoice in the Lord — do not allow circumstances to dictate your joy.
v.5. Let your moderation be known — tell others that God will remain in control of your life and everything is always dependent on Him.
1. Pray instead of worry — take everything to the Lord in prayer.
2. God promises that His peace will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
After we see God's promise of peace, we can rest in His care. He then tells us what to think about rather than the worries and fretful occurrences in our lives. He says to the brethren, the believers, that we have:
1. Items to rest your mind on, commanded from the Lord.
2. Promise of the presence of the God of peace with us.
