“Is there any job you haven’t done?”
This was a question I was once asked.
From the time I was a child, growing up in rural Juniata County, I had one goal – to be a mom. But God didn’t bring my husband into my life for many more years. So after graduating from high school, I began the search of what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Do you remember the little boy that you used to see running everywhere he went? The little boy who never possessed an “inside voice”, and was constantly spilling his drink at the table? That was me. Thank you for having patience while I developed the ability to control my energy.
I grew up in a small village in Ohio called Iberia. It was a “village” because our two stop signs, gas station, and post office weren’t quite enough to bring us up to “town” status. Our family was made up of my dad Jeff, mom Robin, sister Emily, myself and a various assortment of pets throughout the years. We always lived within a short walk, or drive, of all of my extended family, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
It was in my early childhood that my Mawmaw explained to me what Christ had done in her life. She was the one person in this world that I admired most. I wanted to be like her, and wanted to experience the grace that she beautifully described. One morning, in her dining room, she lead me in a prayer to accept the gift of salvation. She went to be with the Lord in 2006, but her legacy continues on in the impact she made for the kingdom.
After roughly 20 years I went to Mount Vernon Nazarene University where I received a Bachelors of Radio and Video Broadcasting. But the degree was only the second best thing I received in college. After three years of friendship, I finally got up the nerve to ask out the most beautiful girl on campus, Stephanie. Three month’s later we were engaged, and three months after that we were married. Spending my life with her is such a joy. Together we have three sons, Jeffrey, Rocky and Benjamin.
After college I worked at Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk for a year. It was an amazing learning experience. While I was there I couldn’t help but to catch Dr. Dobson’s passion for the family and for children. I hope that every day I can become a better leader, husband, and father. With that comes a passion for the sanctity of life which has been instilled in me from childhood.
Most of my free time is spent playing with my sons, or watching a favorite tv show with my wife. I also love playing basketball, building legos and watching one of my favorite sports teams. (Go Browns, Cavs, Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, and yes… Penn State).
AFTERNOONS
WITH JASON ALLAN
I grew up as a Lancaster County boy loving the beauty of the countryside. Now that I’m a little older – although still a kid at heart – I’ve come to enjoy God’s creation through hiking and backpacking.
I’m extremely grateful to my parents who raised me knowing who Jesus is and what he did for me. I can think back to early conversations with my parents sharing with me the importance of accepting Jesus into my heart asking me if I had made Jesus my savior. “Yes,” I told them “I’ve done that.”
I continued with my faith journey into college where I attended Edinboro University. I couldn’t have gone any further away from home and still been in Pennsylvania!
I can confidently say that if God had not pursued me in college I wouldn’t be where I am today. God really called me to himself and I had the chance to make my relationship with him a very personal one.
My renewed relationship with God wasn’t the only life changing event that happened at college. Besides earning a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Edinboro is also where I met my wonderful and beautiful wife, Rachael. We married on a small South Carolina island in May of 2016 with our feet in the sand.
At this point I was two years into a career in Country Music in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. We liked the area and loved the people, but two years later God brought that chapter of my life to an end. God spent the next year telling me to trust in Him because he had great things planned.
As he always does, God fulfilled that promise when I landed here at Way Truth Life Radio. I know God has more great things planned through this ministry, but I wouldn’t dare try to guess all the things He has planned. I’ll just look forward to hearing His voice and going as called.
If you run into me outside of work I’m either with my wife, my dog (Zion) or watching the Green Bay Packers. If I’m doing anything else, please help me because I’m clearly lost.
I started in radio at WTLR in August of 2010. Prior to radio, I had the opportunity to work as the registrar at Camp Kanesatake for three summers, and I have since rejoined the staff at Camp K.
I was born in Bogota, Colombia, went to boarding school in South America, and grew up in Central Florida. For 20+ years I worked for Mickey Mouse.
My first job for the Mouse was selling ice-cream in Fantasyland on the weekends, then on to being a monorail pilot for a few years, leading into working for guest relations, which ultimately led to international marketing. I traveled to foreign lands to spread the news about the happiest place on earth both for Walt Disney World and Disneyland. I can remember the first time I saw Cinderella’s Castle in Disneyland; I was overwhelmed with how small it was, then I was overwhelmed to know that I was standing where the history of the Mouse began.
I lived a life where work was my God; I was consumed with the pursuit of corporate endeavors. Finally in 2006, I visited my family in Pennsylvania to recover from depression and anxiety.
Within weeks of coming to Pennsylvania and with the help of a loving church, I came to accepting and understanding a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. It was His unfailing love that healed me. I was fortunate to take a sabbatical of a few years to learn all I could about our great Savior. My thirst for His word taught me many lessons and opened my heart for unreached people groups, people who have never heard of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I have taken a few short term missions trips, most recently going to Egypt.
There are so many scriptures that are life changing for me, but one that I hold dear is Matthew 24:15: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” I pray for workers to be raised up to go into the harvest, to areas that have never heard of God, their Creator and Savior, and then the end will come.
About me? I love being the mom of JD and Jesse. God’s love keeps me alive and strong. My heart beats with Psalm 63:1-8.
When I was twenty-one (about a thousand years ago), I was praying and clearly heard from God about Christian radio. A few months later we moved to Central Missouri and I started working at KCVO at the Lake of the Ozarks. Since then, I’ve been on the radio in Iowa, North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, and then nationally from California, Indiana, and Denver. I’m now very thankful to be with the team at WTLR.

Things that make me smile: my family, improv comedy, dark chocolate, strong coffee with strong friends, deep conversations, chips and salsa :)
Psalm 63:1-8 God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You. I thirst for You, my whole being longs for You, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory. Because Your love is better than life, my lips with glorify You. I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up my hands. I will be satisfied as with the richest of foods. With singing lips, my mouth will praise You. On my bed, I remember You. I think of You through the watches of the night. I cling to you. Your right hand upholds me.
I was raised in a family of 4 boys, in the town of Wall, PA, familiar to some for being the home of Cornerstone TV. My family attended a Byzantine Catholic Church, where we learned to honor and respect God, but no mention of having a personal faith in the Lord Jesus.
I was faithful in my church attendance up until my college years at Penn State.
My first encounters in Central PA were on the long 3-hour drives with my dad as we would take my brother George to his residence hall during his time at Penn State. I also attended there, and graduated from Penn State in 1979. During my time at the University Park campus I lived in the Nittany Barracks, a group of buildings that had been used by the military going back to the days of World War II. These residence halls would only be considered cool by a college student. The buildings were replaced a number of years ago, so I can’t enjoy them again when I take an occasional nostalgic walk on the campus.
I got into broadcasting back in 1981, after getting some basic training in this field via the famous Columbia School of Broadcasting. My first job in radio was in a very small station in Sutton, West Virginia, WSGB. This station had a format of country in the morning, adult/contemporary in the midday, and hard rock in the evening. We also had a feature entitled Deepest Sympathies, which had the announcers reading the local obituaries.
Over the next 5 years I worked at a couple of other stations. Then in 1986 I moved to State College to work at a station that was just starting up, WZWW. While at this station I became familiar with WTLR and a number of people who were involved with it. Also during this time back in 1988, after visiting a local church a couple from the church paid me a visit, and presented the Gospel via the Evangelism Explosion method, and I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
I came to work at WLTR in September of 1989. For over 25 years I have done about every aspect of radio: DJ announcing, news, and various types of production. I’ve gone from records and reel to reels, to uploading and downloading audio files on the computer. I thank the Lord for allowing me to be a part of this ministry for so many years. I’ve truly been blessed through this ministry.
I live in McAlisterville, Juniata County with my wife Diane. We have 2 children, Toby & Heather, who were both involved in track & field during their high school years at East Juniata.
Toby currently lives in the Tampa Florida area with his wife Hannah and daughter Emma and is Assistant Track Coach for the University of South Florida. Heather currently lives in Jonestown Pa. with her husband Jeremy & two children, Dylan & MaKenna, and she is an RN. My wife and I enjoy attending Evendale Bible Church near Richfield. One of my joys during the summer months is swimming.
I love being part of radio and one of funniest things that happened to me years ago was on a Saturday morning at WQJU. I went to the restroom and locked the door and could not unlock it. I panicked, and my only recourse was to kick at the door until I broke the door jam. When I returned to the studio there was on-air silence and the phone was ringing. Guess who–it was the station owner wanting to know what happened!
I first asked the Lord into my heart while at home watching a Billy Graham crusade when I was around 10 years old. I recommitted my life in 1978, and despite my shortcomings, God has been very good and has richly blessed me and my family.
As I host Saturday Morning Southern and Saturday Afternoon Gospel, I love the music, the message, the opportunity to share, and the uplift in spirit that I get from being a part of it.
My hope for my listeners is that they also get an uplift in spirit as well have the chance to sing along, clap their hands and be blessed by the message of Christ through the songs, and to be encouraged to continue the fight.
God is good all the time, and all the time . . . God is good! Â I grew up in State College in a God fearing, Bible believing, two parent family with two older brothers, one older sister, an Irish Setter named Shana, and a cat named Purina. At the tender age of just five, I realized my need for forgiveness and I asked Jesus to live in my heart and be my Savior.
God blessed my life, and though I lived for several years outside of His will for me, in 1993 I married God’s wonderful and witty promise to me, Dan Witherite, who continues to make me laugh and bring me joy… even after all these years!
Thanks to the powerful “recruiting” of Doreen Crandell, I began volunteer announcing at WTLR (at 315 S. Atherton Street) in 1984, often filling the Saturday afternoon time slot. When the Saturday morning air slot opened up in 1988, I had to seriously pray about the opportunity as I was not very fond of southern gospel music at the time. Little did I know that God’s joke was on me, as that southern gospel sound quickly grew on me and I learned to love the music, the groups, and Paul Heil! Now I don’t understand why everybody doesn’t love Homecoming Radio! I also learned to love working with my hands and inasmuch I am an electrician by trade since 1985, having started my own electrical contracting business in 1998.
Presently, God has blessed me with the privilege of being part of the board of directors for the State College Pregnancy Resource Clinic (PRC) since 2012, and it’s been a great pleasure to watch God impact and save souls for His kingdom!
God is amazing! I love people and love to see how God changes lives through answered prayer!
I grew up on a dairy farm in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania with seven other siblings. I’ve always had a broad interest in a lot of things–animals, gardening, the outdoors, science, reading, and photography, to name a few.
We were always a church-going family, so being a very young child and having a very sensitive conscience, I met the Lord early–at age 6–when I realized I needed Jesus. My mother brought me to the Lord in our farm kitchen.
I started as a volunteer at WTLR in the year 2000. It was not something I asked to do–I was pulled into it somewhat involuntarily after I met Doreen Crandell and I asked her if I could tour the station and watch her at work. At that time I was on a spiritual search to know God more intimately. I know it was really the Lord who brought me here and has done great things in my life through my service and relationships here.
I wondered if I would ever get married, and here is where I found my husband! I met Chaz the same year as my radio training, put him off for 7 years, the Lord showed me the light, and today I’ve been married to him for seven years and have a wonderful little toddler that fills both of us with joy.
One of my favorite Bible verses is Galatians 2:20 because God has shown me how to live through Him instead of in my own strength.
I grew up in southern Vermont where the Green Mountains always present a winter wonderland during the winter season. But back in the 1970’s, many forecast storms never materialized, leading me into an interest in weather and forecasting.
That brought me to Penn State to study meteorology and afterward, a job at Penn State using computer systems to manage real-time weather information for classroom as well as research activities. Far more important than meteorology, however, was what God had in store for me at Penn State.
During my freshman year, a couple of students shared “4 Spiritual Laws” with me, telling how God loves us but that our missteps (sins) separate us from God so that we cannot have true and eternal life without a way to bridge that gap. The solution… Jesus! By dying on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, He bridged that gap and reconciled us to God. These were not entirely new concepts to me, having grown up with a church background, but the challenge for me to personally accept Christ’s forgiveness and salvation was new, and at this point I prayed to receive Christ personally as my Saviour and have been following Him ever since. Involvement with several campus ministries and churches in town eventually led me to an opportunity to serve God as a volunteer at WTLR in 1989, serving as a volunteer announcer and also as a camp counselor at Camp Kanesatake. Today, I am still a volunteer announcer at WTLR, I am married and have two children, enjoy gardening and family camping trips, and of course, I never get tired of looking at the sky and talking about the weather!
Michael grew up in a preacher’s home and has been involved in music and singing his whole life. As a kid, he sang gospel music with this siblings and carried that stage career into college as an actor and drama team member. As an adult, he is involved in worship at his church and loves public and motivational speaking as well as more mundane endeavors like hunting, four-wheeling and even skydiving.
Michael and his wife Lisa have 4 children ranging from 19 to 13 and just as involved in music and drama as Michael is. The whole crew loves history and the beach which allows for exciting and varied vacations (at least when they can find time to take them)! He speaks of his relationship with his parents and siblings fondly as many great memories (and even better stories) spring from his growing years (ask him about zip lines, motorcycle rides, spelunking, and swimming/water skiing in Pennsylvania’s largest natural lake). He is very involved in ministry at church as well as community groups such as the Centre Region Pregnancy Resource Clinic and the 4th Fest.
Michael gave his heart to the Lord at the age of 5 and remembers being baptized by his dad. He is very aware of the positive influence his parents have had on his life because they encouraged him to imitate them as they imitated the Lord (II Cor 11:1). In fact, radio is in the Madeira blood line. Michael’s dad had a radio program more than 40 years ago as the pastor of a local church in Northeast PA. Now his dad, mom and sister volunteer on air time on a Christian radio station owned and managed by one of his brothers and his other brother is a morning drive host on a radio talk show. All of the family know that importance of sharing the good news of the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Michael often ends his programs with a question that recognizes the importance of having a relationship with the Lord when he asks “is what you’re living for worth Christ’s dying for?”
I am Chaz McCracken. While many of the folks in my home town of Clearfield, PA still know me as “Charlie,” Chaz is what most folks have called me for many years, so that’s the name I use when I talk with you on Way Truth Life Radio. (My cousin decided to give me the nickname many years ago and it just stuck.)
I started working with the Station back in 1994. Before that time I had been spending my summers working at our own Camp Kanesatake, so my time with these ministries actually goes back to 1989!
For me, the association with these ministries has been one of the most important parts of my life. In fact, it was right here that I met my wife Susan, who you can listen to on Saturday evenings.
“Is there any job you haven’t done?” This was a question I was once asked.
From the time I was a child, growing up in rural Juniata County, I had one goal – to be a mom. But God didn’t bring my husband into my life for many more years. So after graduating from high school, I began the search of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I worked in a shirt factory and quickly realized I didn’t want to make that permanent. I cashiered at Boscm/s, was assistant manager at a pet shop, worked at several fast-food restaurants and at an ice cream stand, was a OJ at a radio station, secretary of engineering at a housing manufacturing company and then in the plant mudding-drywall. None of those jobs fulfilled my ultimate goal. Finally I became a professional nanny and knew that I found what I loved – children. Even though God hadn’t brought me a husband yet, I could do what I loved – essentially I was acting as a mom when the parents weren’t there. And I could have the evenings and weekends free to do other things, including taking some college classes. I loved my years as a nanny and learned many useful things that I’ve used in the years since then. I worked for 6 years as a nanny before I met my husband. We dated for 6 months, then one night, as the moon was getting bigger, Seth popped the questionI Of course, I said yes! We got married and the years have flown by so quickly. He was a truck driver, so I went with him on the road, and even got my permit and drove the big rigs too. After 2 years, God blessed us with children. So that ultimate goal was finally fulfilled. We have 4 children that I homeschooled until they were in 8th grade, when they chose to go to school. The first 3 have graduated from high school (3 down and 1 more to go) and the oldest one is now married. So, I bet you can guess what I am looking forward to now – yes
– I’m awaiting the time when I get the honored title of grandmother. Until then, I babysit for friends and enjoy their young children. I also enjoy giving time back to God by volunteering in the church nursery, and at Way Truth Life Radio.
I have been on several short-term mission trips – to Alaska, Haiti (twice}, Romania to rock babies with Precious Life, and to Costa Rica (twice). Watching my children also have a heart for missions has been fulfilling for me. They have gone to Costa Rica, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Bonaire, Curacao, and Zambia, Africa. One of my favorite Bible verses is 3 John 1:4 – “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
My life has turned out so much better than I had planned it all out – you see, my plan was to get married the day after I graduated from high school… and have 12 children. But God has a great sense of humor – when I thought I was ready to get married, my husband was only in 5th grade!
I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. I just want to do what God wants me to do. And every day I try to be like the apostle Paul. He states in Philippians 4:11– “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” I wish this for you also.
